One Dollar Art: Laser-cut Money Made Worthless Gained Artistic Value
Artist Scott Campbell has effectively displayed us that with dozens on one dollar bills and some precise cutting you can create some amazing One Dollar Art which is a series of laser-cut etchings, each on a stack of $1 bills. Kind of a crime against the nature, to ruin your dollar bills. Although, everything goes when it comes to art. We hope that his investment pays off in the end.
About the author and the exibition: Critically acclaimed tattoo artist, Scott Campbell, recently showed his work at the O.H.W.O.W. gallery in Miami, FL. The highlight of the evening was a series of laser-cut etchings, each on a stack of $1 bills. The collection is entitled “Make It Rain†and shows a sampling of the artist’s dark and beautiful undertones.
Scott Campbell was born in rural Louisiana and began his career illustrating before mastering the art of tattoo. In 2004, he opened Saved Tattoo in Brooklyn where he perfected his signature style. You guys have totally missed the point. great concept and awesome finished product. You can research all you want about your constitution and laws but how about some art theory to get the point behind this. Do you really think it would have this effect if it were on paper, it wouldn’t generate such debate for one. Very interesting and original, well done sir.
who could care less if its legal or not to make a few holes in a dollar bill? do you hand yourself over to the police when you rip a note trying to get it out of your wallet too fast? if you dont like his art that’s your opinion, but there’s no need to be such a tool about it
as for people starving because of someone wasting a few dollars – you’ve no doubt spent enough money on frivolus things instead of using it to feed and clothe the poorest of people – where exactly is the difference?
